Summer is the easiest season to dress for and the easiest to get wrong. Heat makes people reach for the lightest fabric and the lightest colour, and only one of those helps.
Fabric beats colour
Linen, cotton, and light wool or silk blends in a looser weave keep you cool far better than a tight synthetic in white. A loose, breathable cloth is the whole game.
Fit that lets air move
A little looseness beats a tight fit in heat. You do not need oversized, just enough room that the fabric is not against your skin everywhere.
Colour in hard light
Strong sun flattens pale colour and deep colour alike, so contrast matters. A clean base with one saturated accent, or two clear tones, reads better than an all-pastel outfit in bright light.
The takeaway · Choose the cloth and the cut for the heat, then choose the colour for the light.
