Spring is the most changeable season, and the one where people most often overdress in the wrong direction. The morning lies to you.
Keep the layering habit of autumn and simply make everything lighter and cleaner.
Light layers, still layers
A cotton or light-knit base, a thin overshirt or an unlined jacket, and a light coat for the cold ends of the day. The structure is the same as autumn; the weight changes.
A fresher palette
Move toward lighter neutrals and cleaner colour: cream, stone, sky, soft green, denim. Keep one anchor of something darker so you do not disappear into the light.
Fabric and weather
Cotton, light wool, and the first linen of the year all belong. Keep a layer for rain, because spring rain is what catches people out, and choose a shoe that can take a wet pavement.
The takeaway · Keep the layers of autumn, and lighten everything else.
