Lounge suit means an ordinary suit, the standard day or evening tailoring short of a tuxedo.
Lounge suit is an old British term that survives on invitations. It simply means a normal suit, jacket and trousers in the same cloth, worn with a shirt and tie. It is the everyday suit, not evening dress.
You see it on daytime wedding invitations and formal lunches. A smart two-piece in navy, grey or charcoal fits the bill. Add a tie for the ceremony and you can loosen it later.
It sits above business formal in effort because it is often paired with nicer cloth, and it is less formal than anything calling for a tuxedo. When the invitation says lounge suit, do not wear black tie.
The lever · Match the trousers to the jacket in the same cloth; a true suit reads far sharper than a jacket with odd trousers.
